We welcome disassembly guides from visitors, and look forward to those from digg, slashdot, and hack-a-day, (as well as everyone else). To get folks excited about the idea of submitting their own guides, we're having a little contest. Prizes:- 1st Prize - Your guide will be placed on the homepage, you will recieve a special forum title, and you will recieve a small prize (TBD).
- 2nd Prize - Your guide will be placed on the homepage and you will recieve a special forum title.
- 3rd Prize - Your guide will be placed on the homepage.
The rules (if you are entering the contest) are as follows:
- The guide must be posted in this forum.
- Be sure to have at least 5 photographs or at least 25 seconds of video. Any less than that and the visual assistance granted by those mediums will be greatly reduced. Video must be hosted by the poster. (Sadly, we currently don't have the storage to hold hours of DV)
- Please annotate the guides. I understand if only images will show the process, but text can sometimes be a greater help.
- Formatting:
- Images: jpg, at least 640x480 in size.
- Video: MPEG-4, 30FPS, around 798 kbits/sec.
Winners will be announced around June 30th (or so). Winners are listed above. Deadline for entries is June 15st, 2006. Note: You can always post guides in the forum just for the heck of it. They don't have to be contest entries. Thanks, and have fun! The fine print:We reserve the right to change the rules as we see fit. (especially regarding things such as the deadline) Contest open to anyone who posts a tutorial. Do not bend, fold, or mutilate. Contest void outside this solar system.Questions about the contest can be placed in this thread.

Just out of curiosity, what does the winner get? It might sway my decision in choosing which machine at home I decide to dismantle. Thanks.

Well, we're still trying to figure out what the prize will be. Most likely a TakeItApart.net T-shirt or a special multi-function screwdriver.
If it's a t-shirt, it will probably look something like this: (This is just a photoshoped mockup)
The TIA logo on the front, "TakeItApart.net" on the back with a caption of "Dissecting electronic gadgetry. Just for fun.".
And no, the individual pictured below is not me.
