Rubik’s Cube

Posted on Monday 15 May 2006

Ahh, the rubiks cube. Good stuff. You say you cant solve it and dont want to take off the stickers? You came to the right place.

Rotate any side a 1/8 turn as shown above, then pop out any one of the edge (not corner) pieces.

Now all of the pieces should come out easily.

If you’re one of those people who have solved one naturally, write your name and the time it takes on average. Also, if you have an interesting completion story, include it! I, for example, have done it with one hand.

My average time is 3:30 Minutes.

Mine did this on its own back in the ’80s when the Cube was hip. I used to oil it just a bit to help it slide during speed cubing. I eventually got good enough to solve it in 1 minute 42 seconds but not before it exploded on me once or twice. A little friction is good — I had used a bit too much oil. I look at it now and can’t even remember how to solve a single side…….:(

[…] I think this is mainly reserved to men, but I really enjoy taking stuff apart. Maybe at some level by dissecting some gadget I feel that I have not only shown my dominance over that thing but I also have in a way given it life by putting it back together. Now you can experience the “god complex” with pretty much anything thanks to Takeitapart.net. Take It Apart gives pictoral guides to taking pretty much anything apart. If you are tired of the Rubik’s cube getting the best of you, then show it who is boss by taking it apart. If you find yourself bored this weekend, just visit Take It Apart and do just that.   […]

I saw a video online of a guy who made a lego robot that solves the cube. I am the one who posted this disassembly, and have since completed the Professor cube, the cube that is 5×5. It was hard, and i am wondering if i should ever mess it up again for fear of never bieng able to solve it. Its delicate, it would probably come apart easy.

    Very interesting guide.
Anyways, I average a little above 2 minutes. However my cube isn’t really made for speed (it gets stuck; I don’t want to oil it or anything though), and all the stickers are coming off and fading. I like solving it though.

done it with my feet! ANywayputting it back together is pretty easy if you have a good cube just takes some muscle getting the last piece. It is impossible if last piece is corner make sure it is edge. To do it just first put in all the edge pieces for the white layer, then put in all the corners for white layer, all the edge pieces for middle, then one edge piece top layer two adjacent corners pieces on e adjacent edge piece to one of the corners then adjacent edge piece to that then other side adjacent edge piece then 4th corner then last edge piece

taking apart a 4×4x4 cube is REALLY EASY! just start twisting really fast til it jams then twist HARD. to put it back together is easier than putting bak th.e 3×3x3. FIrst put the 4BL (bottom layer) centers into the little track around the ball and putt them together. THen place them as the bottom and they will work as kind of a stand. Make sure the bottom is white color. NOw for the bottom edges. NOw take the white-blue edges and fit their sides into the slots on the white centers. THEY SHOULD NOT GO INTO THE TRAK! Make sure the blue is on the front. Now do the orange-white edges the same way. They should go on the left of blue side. Green is side opposite blue, and red is side opposite orange. BEWARE, certain edges will only go onto certain sides, make sure theyre on the right side of the centers. Now put the corners in the correct place, they should fit quite nicely. NOw put the blue centers in only the bottom two then the orange, green, etc. NOw put in the edges. Now do next layer centers and edges. Now put in all 4 yellow centers on top but put one in then move in one the track to one side then next piece move on track to other end etc. otherwise you wont be able to put them all in. Now put the two yellowd-blue edges in and the y-b-o corner and the y-b-r corner. next put in the yellow orange edges, y-g-o corner, yellow-red edges,.Allr corner, then yellow-green edges. All DOne!

39 seconds r u serious i have done it in 12 seconds What u have to do is rlly understand where all the pieces are going while ur doing it and be thinking about the next move while doing the one before it. It is pretty simple after you get the hang of it. I learned how to do it at camp bye fiddling with it now i can do it in about 40 seconds but whatever. My best one handed time is somewhere in between 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds. O ya iam 9 years old. Thnx for letting me share my comments with ll u guys. p.s. speaking of time it took me 7 minutes to write this. while watching star wars 3
