My wife spilled coffee on her Mac. I offered to open it and clean it, as this tutorial looks ULTRA easy compared to my HP dv8700, which had 187 small parts when I took it apart, but she declined. I've got to tell you, if I had a Mac, I'd open it with one hand tied behind my back after the Mission Impossible task of changing the fan on my PC laptop. You folks that own Macs should be grateful that your computer is so beautifully and logically designed. I'm in awe...

I'm strongly considering purchasing a Mac next time, simply because of its ease of service.

Many Thanks Risotto.
After a half a venti Starbucks coffee (with sugar and cream) found its way into my MacBook Pro keyboard, I unplugged and let it dry. After I rebooted the Shift keys were permanently pressed. I ordered a new keyboard off of ebay for $40 and used the instructions here to disassemble and replace. Had to reconnect the connections twice, but everything is working now, with only two extra screws..

Some -10801 error messages seem to have been caused by the spill or disassembly too..

HELP! My girl friend tripped out on me and threw a big glass filled with water at me n my MBP, immediately when the water went on the laptop it turned off by itself :/...I took the battery out, took all the keys off the keyboard and left it to dry under my fan for the night, next day I unscrewed it and took the cover off so that it can dry better..its still drying right now..tonight it will be 72 hours since the accident...my question is, since it turned off immediately by itself does it mean it wont turn on again??? I haven't tried turning it on yet...my friend said to wait a week...should I wait that long or should I just turn it on?? I'm really tempted to turn it on but I'm scared its not ready

I have studied the disassembly routines quiet precisely and think one can do it really itself, I mean to disassembly the MacBook Pro.
But there is still a open question for me left. Logical spoken, to reassemble the hole MacBook Pro is just the reverse way how to disassemble it. Okay so far so good concerning the clips and screws, but how do I fix the protecting tapes (see image 8//17/18 and the protecting sheet (image 19/20)? Do I need a special glue? Do I leave them of?
It would be very helpful, if anyone could give a hint.

I just received my keyboard from powerbookmedic dot com and will use your instructions tonight to install the keyboard. I will write back on my experience. As an FYI, their site aso has repair videos that are free plus they sell tools, special tape and pretty much anything else you need to fixyour Mac. They deal with all MACs, not just the Power Book.
