Blower uses AC and using a triac is not a very good idea because it takes time to get blower back on speed.
Much better is to use a kind of barricade from the blower to the buffer (where the reeds are places on) or an adjustable overflowventile. You can use simple mechanical constructions instead of electronic ones.

Does the blower use AC or DC? I got one just like this (well, different color) and I was planning on taking it apart to add a control for the blower so i could change the volume and attack/decay. Any good ideas on how to accomplish this, besides a triac (or pot if DC) on the motor? (Maybe adding some baffles to mute the sound?)
